Portraits

For each of these pictures, I used two different main techniques. My first technique was adding props. I added a volleyball and a frisbee. For my second picture, I decided that it would be cool to play with eye contact. If you look carefully, you will notice that the girl is not looking directly into to camera. This can lead to further questions about the image.

Hobbies and Interests

To create this image, I had been playing beach volleyball on the sand courts at my school and I had gotten tired so I decided to take a break. I saw how the volleyball was sitting in the sand and I though it would make a great picture.

David Hockney Collage Project

In our project, we were trying to communicate the emptiness feeling of the auditorium. I thought we were very successful with communicating this. I learned a lot of things with this project. The first thing I learned was that to create a great image, it can be split up into different images and still look very realistic. Another thing I learned was that the parts of the image can be from all different images, some close up and others far off. Lastly, I learned that we need to make sure we have the order of our collage down so it doesn’t come out messy looking.

The Cubist Period occurred in the 20th century. Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque created this new art style in Paris. They worked side by side for many years during the Cubist Period and their works was almost indistinguishable. In most of the Cubist work, you would usually find letters, musical instruments, bottles, glasses, newspapers, still life's and human figures or face. 

 

David Hockney was a British painter, printmaker, photographer and designer. His earlier work seemed almost a joking mood which led his art work to become pop art. He had a very colorful personality which led more and more people to become interested in his art. He spent most of his time in the United States creating portraits for people. Then, in the 1980’s, he began to make collages out of many picture he had taken.

I really liked this picture because it was a good use of prop. It it definitely a different kind of prop then I would have used which I think makes it really unique.

I love this picture because its so unique in a few ways. The lighting was used very well and made the image much more interesting. I also like how the girl is posed, it really shows the feeling in this image. Lastly, I thought the background was also very interesting and made the mood warm feeling. 

I really like this picture because its very interest. The woman in this picture looks like she is stressed out about something and adding the background can set to tone of the picture to show that she is possible upset about something.

Taking Stunning Portraits

When you alter the prospective of your camera’s view, it instantly changes the feeling of the image. You can add more this to it, change what its about or just give it a wow factor. When you play with eye contact though, it can make the picture more interesting. Making the viewer wonder what the person in the picture is looking at and what is cause them to have a certain emotion. If you decide to break the rules of composition, you could take a picture of something but show the background as a blur. You can also place the person so they are not directly in the center. This can also make the image more interesting. Just by adding a prop to these methods, you can change the whole story of the picture. For example: if you were to add a frisbee in your picture, it could suggest that you had been playing with a frisbee. But this can take away from the actual center of attention. Lastly, if you was to make a picture way more interesting, you may think about taking a body part and framing it with clothing to a part of it it hidden. This makes viewers feel like the image in more mysterious or it can change the feeling.

To create these images, I looked around to find what most attention was drawn to and I noticed that it was these four things. I could small many different things like peanuts, chocolate, hay, fried doe and cotton candy.
